The Mike Johnson Spirit Award

For the kids!

In memory of Mike Johnson, each year we present one of our volunteers with the Mike Johnson Spirit Award.

Mike Johnson was an inspirational coach, a dedicated volunteer, and an all around outstanding person. He was a devoted coach to his team; focusing on teaching them how to play smart and helping them to improve their skills. He was dedicated to our region, and especially our coaches. Through his efforts to train our coaches, our entire region's skill level improved. He was always available to anyone who asked for his help. He constantly had a warm smile and kind words for everyone who was around. His influence has touched many.

This award is open to any volunteer involved in our program. We want your input about who you think deserves this honor.

More about Mike

Mike Johnson was a huge part of our Ojai community and was loved by many. Mike passed away Monday, February 9th, 2015, at the ULCA Medical Center in Los Angeles following a heart attack.

The epitome of what a soccer coach should be, Mike cared so much for the kids he coached. He was passionate about the coaching quality in our region and worked to give our coaches the tools they needed to succeed.

His smiling face is still missed by many.
